This 2 days chimpanzee trekking takes you to southern part of Uganda at Kibale forest national park. Kibale forest national park has the higher population of habituated chimpanzees in East Africa with over 5000 chimpanzees and the park has other 12 species of primates. Kibale forest national park is a home to chimpanzees and other primates like the Red Colobus Monkeys and the Rare L’Hoest’s Monkeys. You will find over 300 bird species and over 60 species of mammals.

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park and Bigodi wetland sanctuary visit.

Our company guide/driver will pick you up at 6:40 am after your morning breakfast from the hotel or place of resident for transfer to Kibale forest national park and to cut off the morning traffic jam.  The journey takes 5-6 hour’s drive passing through Mityana-Mubende-Kyenjojo and to Fort Portal.

The journey to Kibale forest national park will reward you with panoramic views of Tea plantations being seen along the road, Banana plantations, beautiful landscapes, local people doing their daily activities and view of cleanness town in Uganda [Fort Portal]

Upon arrival at the park, drive to the lodge, then check-in and have lunch. After lunch embark on nature walk at Bigodi wetland sanctuary where you will encounter different primates, plenty of bird species, flora and fauna. The walk is very interesting, a mixture of nature walk and interaction with the local people of the community. During the nature walk, you will be rewarded with beautiful view of  wildlife like L’Hoest, Red-tailed Monkey, Red Colobus, Vervet Monkey, Mangabey , Sitatunga, Bushbuck, wild pigs and over 250 bird species which includes The great blue turaco, Black and White casqued hornbill, White browed coucal, Ross’s turaco, grew backed fiscal and African paradise flycatcher to list the few.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and back to Kampala

 Leave the lodge after morning breakfast and the driver will transfer you to Kanyanchu Visitor center for briefing and grouping by UWA game rangers. The well-armed game ranger will lead the group of 6 tourists into the jungles in search of our closed relative with whom we share 98% DNA test the endangered chimpanzees.    

Chimpanzee trekking is so interesting experience, you will pass in the forest trials following the game ranger and the trek takes half an hour to 4 hours to find the chimpanzees. The location of the chimpanzees depends on the movement and where the chimpanzees built their pervious nest.

Not only will you see chimpanzees in the forest but you will see other primates like Coppery-tailed money, Blue monkey, Vervet monkey, Black and White colobus monkey, Red tailed monkey, Red colobus monkey and view of bird species. 

After finding the endangered chimpanzees, you will be allowed only 1 hour with them taking pictures, seeing them fighting, feeding, slap trees, swing from branch to branch and young ones breast feeding. Return to the lodge and check-out with packed lunch for transfer back to Kampala. On arrival to Kampala you will be dropped at the hotel or Entebbe international airport.

Safari is inclusive of; chimpanzee permit, transport, accommodation, Bigodi wetland visit, meals, English speaking guide/driver and mineral water.
